The News About Project Lifeline

Six of the top US Banks are banding together to help homeowners in an effort they are calling Project Lifeline. Job losses and the credit crunch has made it hard for homeowners to keep up with their mortgages forcing them into a foreclosure situation.

Project Lifeline will help homeowners to get more affordable deals that will delay foreclosures and improve their payment situation. The banks behind Project Lifeline are Bank of America, Citigroup, Countrywide, JP Morgan, Washington Mutual and Wells Fargo. The six banks are also a part of a plan called “Hope Now” which is also designed to help homeowners by having major lenders agree to voluntarily freeze low-cost teaser rates on some subprime adjustable-rate mortgages for five extra years.

It’s good to see banks trying to help people and being part of the solution instead of being part of the problem.

The News About The Grammy Awards

Well, the Grammy Awards aired last night and boy was it a big one. Amy Winehouse and Kanye West turned out to be the biggest winners of the night. Winehouse took home five awards and Kanye took home four.

I would say that what made the night was the performance of Tina Turner and Beyonce doing “Proud Mary”. Tina Turner, who still looks great at 68 showed that she still has some of that energy that made her the star that she remains to be.

I must say that I’m a big Prince fan so anytime I get to see him perform it’s a good time for me and I was glad to see him perform last night. It was also great to see the reunion of The Time and their performance with Rihanna. I can’t wait to hear the new CD they have coming out.

A final note, Presidential Candidate, Barack Obama also won a Grammy last night for Best Spoken Word Album. That goes well with his primary wins this weekend.

The News About Shooting Rampage In Missouri

Six people were killed yesterday when Charles Lee "Cookie" Thornton stormed into a city council meeting in Kirkwood, Missouri and started shooting after yelling, "Shoot the mayor!" Thornton had already shot and killed two officers on his into the council chamber.

Thornton was said to have frequently disrupted city council meetings by making strange noises and making derogatory comments towards the director of public works, the city attorney and the mayor. In 2006 Thornton sued the city of Kirkwood after he was arrested twice for disorderly conduct at two council meetings. He lost the suit and was later convicted.

Thornton's brother, Gerald, told KMOV-TV in St. Louis "The only way that I can put it in a context that you might understand is that my brother went to war tonight with the people that were of the government that was putting torment and strife into his life."

Thornton was killed when police finally opened fire on him.

The News About The Family Ties Reunion

I was a big fan of “Family Ties” when it was on TV, Alex P. Keaton keep me rolling week after week. Today on the “Today Show” the cast and the producer of “Family Ties” reunited. It was great to see these people together again and learn how well they all got along together and still do.

Missing from the reunion was Brian Bonsall who played the little brother that joined the show later and the guy who played Skippy, Alex’s goofy friend. I can't seem to think of his name right now. But it was great seeing the main core cast and it made me smile.

The News About Super Tuesday

Well, the biggest primary of the season has ended and although there was a decisive winner for the Republicans the Democratic race is still on the line. John McCain was the definite winner of the Republican race and this would usually mean he would get the Republican nomination, but the win wasn’t big enough for him to clinch the nomination.

On the Democratic side the race came down to Clinton and Obama as expected. Clinton won the states that had the most delegates, but Obama won the smaller and mid-sized states giving him 14 states to Clinton’s 8.

With no decisive nominee for either party on Super Tuesday, the biggest primary ever in the US, the candidates look ahead to next week’s primaries in Maryland and Virginia.

The News About Fat Tuesday

You may know that today is “Super Tuesday”. All of the Presidential candidates are gearing up to get delegates from California, New York, Illinois, New Jersey, Missouri and Georgia. These are the biggest prizes of the primary season.

But what I didn’t know and have never heard of is that this is also “Fat Tuesday”, a day to splurge on your diets and eat, eat, eat.

This is a Christian tradition, a day to use up all of the fat, oils and sweets from your house in preparation for Ash Wednesday, which is the beginning of Lent. During Lent, Christians traditionally give up sweet or fancy foods to recognize the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

So for those who celebrate it, Happy Fat Tuesday, enjoy your food and don’t forget to vote if you live where the primaries are being held.

The News About The Super Bowl

Well, I guess by now everybody knows that the Giants won the Super Bowl. It wasn’t an easy win though, it was very close with a score Of Giants 17 and The Patriots 14. As I write this, a parade for the Giants should be going on.

What is always more interesting to me than the game is the ads. Sponsors for the Super Bowl always go all out to come up with some memorable commercials. And the cost per commercial for the Super bowl is astonishing.

Of all the ads that bid for our attention during the Super Bowl, I have to give my nod to the Victoria's Secret ad as the one I liked best. Come on, I’m a guy of course I like Victoria's Secret's ad the best.

Anyway congrats to the Giants and good game.
