The Midwest was rocked this morning by an earthquake that registered a 5.4 magnitude. The earthquake centered 6 miles from West Salem, Illinois, and 66 miles from Evansville, Indiana and was felt in as far away as Cincinnati in my home state of Ohio, Milwaukee, and Des Moines, Iowa, 450 miles northwest of the epicenter. There have been no early reports of injuries or significant damage.
The quake also shook tall buildings in downtown Indianapolis, about 160 miles northeast of the epicenter. The U.S. Geological Survey said that earthquakes occur irregularly in the area, and that the largest historical earthquake in the region, also a magnitude 5.4, caused damage in southern Illinois in 1968.
That’s the news about that. I hope the news about you is good news.
