The News About Herb Peterson Inventor Of the Egg McMuffin Dies

The man who was responsible for bringing breakfast to McDonald's, Herb Peterson has died. Herb Peterson was the inventor of the Egg McMuffin, which became a breakfast item at McDonald’s in 1972. Peterson loved eggs Benedict and wanted to make something similar.

The Egg McMuffin was debuted at a restaurant that Peterson co-owned with his son in Santa Barbara. The egg sandwich consisted of an egg that had been formed in a Teflon circle with the yolk broken, topped with a slice of cheese and grilled Canadian bacon. It was served open-faced on a toasted and buttered English muffin.

Herb Peterson started out at McDonald’s as vice president of the company's advertising firm, D'Arcy Advertising, in Chicago. He even wrote McDonald's first national advertising slogan, "Where Quality Starts Fresh Every Day."

Peterson ended up owning six Mcdonald’s stores. He died peacefully Tuesday at his Santa Barbara home. He was 89-years-old.

Thank you Herb Peterson for a delicious sandwich.

That’s the news about that. I hope the news about you is good news.
